Audemars Piguet

The yellow gold perpetual calendar Royal Oak ref. 25654

PRICE ON REQUEST

Extraordinary example of 18k yellow gold Audemars Piguet perpetual calendar Royal Oak ref. 25654, sold in 1990.

The Audemars Piguet Quantième Perpétuel Royal Oak was launched in 1978 and it represented the world’s thinnest automatic perpetual calendar.

Reference 25654 replaced the first Royal Oak Perpetual calendar ref. 25554 in 1987 and it was produced until 1998 in 315 pieces in steel, 430 pieces in yellow gold, 68 pieces in steel and yellow gold and 38 in platinum.

It differs from its sibling for a slightly thicker case (8.25mm vs the 7.5mm of ref. 25554) meant to improve its water resistance.

The combination of the sporty Royal Oak case and the complicated perpetual calendar movement represented an innovative mix between luxury elegance and one of the brand’s most utilitarian pieces.

Fully constructed out of 18k yellow gold, and with an eye-catching white dial, the present example is preserved in exceptional condition, with all its edges and bevels sharp and well defined.

The layout of the dial includes all the traditional indications of a perpetual calendar: day, date, astronomical moon (with graduation for moon age) and month.

The subsidiary registers are slightly recessed, creating a deep and captivating tridimensional effect.

Moreover it features the rare stick hands and the "Audemars Piguet" signature in small lettering, which is only found on the earlier 25654’s examples.

The 18k yellow gold bracelet is wonderfully preserved and it features the white gold clasp and the clasp cover with the "AP" Logo.

Powered by the Caliber 2120/2800, the thinnest full-rotor self-winding movement in the world, derived from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s legendary ultra-thin JLC 920 movement.

The Caliber 2120 was an initial project of Jaeger LeCoultre in 1967, funded and contributed by Audemars Piguet and famous for its adoption by Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.

Accompanied by the Audemars Piguet Certificate of Authenticity.
