Very attractive and rare steel automatic Audemars Piguet ref. 4010, manufactured in 1971.
The 1970’ s was a period of artistic freedom and experimentation whether in music, film or design.
Watches were no different and a brand that wholly embraced the decade’s zeitgeist was Audemars Piguet, which experimented with shapes, sizes and dials.
This slim and elegant wristwatch is representative of an era in which the maison made so few timepieces per year that many were just unique or part of incredibly limited series.
Housed in a 34mm x 35mm stainless steel octagonal case, it features a handsome black lacquer dial with steel stick handset.
The applied AP logo rises at 12 o’clock position and the white writing “Audemars Piguet Automatic” at the bottom.
The wildly cool integrated “Milanese” bracelet with a signed clasp is adjustable and enhances the allure and the elegance of the whole timepiece.
Powered by the automatic Calibre 2121 movement, its caseback is simply signed “AP Steel”: a sign of how proud the manufacture was to produce such a fine timepiece in a non-precious metal case.
Dating to 1971, this Reference 4010 is preserved in excellent condition and definitely represents a great example of elegance and appeal.
